2025 Municipal Election Information

General Municipal Elections in Alberta are held every four years. Town of Eckville voters elect one mayor and four councillors to a four year term. 

All municipalities in Alberta are required to follow the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA). Although further policies or bylaws can be created to assist the voters & candidates.

What do I need to know as a potential candidate in the next election?

Please contact the Town of Eckville office to obtain the Candidate Nomination information package and forms.

Note: The Notice of Intent form must be completed and returned to the Returning Officer BEFORE a candidate can accept a contribution or incur a campaign expense under Section 147.22 of the Local Authorities Elections Act (LAEA).

Voting is a responsibility that all Canadians should exercise. Your community is shaped by the outcome of an Election. Voting connects citizens with the political process and with each other. When you take part in an election and express your view, you make democracy work. Your vote matters.
