My vision for Eckville is sustainable growth without losing the "small town" family atmosphere. I have enjoyed living in Eckville this time for over 40 years. I was first elected to council in a by-election in January of 1986, and became the Mayor in 1991. I continue to enjoy the best part about this position, which is the people. My personal time is spent enjoying my family and friends along with my passion for collecting all things old.

Sharon and I moved to Eckville in the Fall of 1967. At that time, I had just been appointed Vice-Principal of the Elementary School. For the next 28 year, I was a teacher and the school Administrator until retiring in 1994. In October of 1994, I successfully captured the position of Councillor in a by-election, and currently I’m completing my 15th year. During this tenure I have represented Eckville on the David Thompson Tourist Council and the Lacombe Foundation, as well as numerous local committees. In addition to my duties as Councillor, I have been a community volunteer with the Lion’s Club, Historical Society, the previous Recreation Board, and the Eckville Co-Op Board.

I have lived in Eckville for approximately 16 years with my spouse Colleen, and we have 3 sons Mark (Landry), Michael (Landry), Christopher (Ebby) and Dayna (Landry) daughter in-law plus a granddaughter Ella Rose. Presently I’m involved in the following community boards/groups, Eckville Emergency Management (Oct 2001), Eckville & Community Youth (Feb 2005), Eckville Minor Ball (May 2003), Eckville Chamber of Commerce (May 1993), Eckville Community Hall (May 1994) and was a member of Eckville Fire Dept (Aug 1994 to Aug 2004). I have been on Town Council since October 2004. We enjoy living in Eckville and being involved in the community. In my opinion this is a great community that has lots to offer its residents. I enjoying umping baseball, despite the fact that some of the players and coaches might think that my strike zone is sometimes too small or too big. Good thing I wear my glasses when I ump. I enjoy camping and quading when time permits and setting off Fireworks displays. Most of all I enjoy spending quality time with my family especially Ella has I can spoil her and then send her home.

This is my second term as a Councillor with the Town of Eckville. I've been married to Yvette for 22 years and have two beautiful daughters, Charlotte and Beverly, and two special sons, Dustin and Hugh. We own Kal Tire, our family business since February 1995. Besides Council, I also sit on the Youth Board, Eckville Community Development Association, Hall Board, Chamber of Commerce, Quality Assurance Committee, and the Regional Waste Authority. In my spare time I enjoy motorcycling, camping, quadding, basketball and skiing. I am very proud of Eckville and really enjoy living here. I believe we are truly becoming a Community of Choice.

Being born and raised in small-town southeast Saskatchewan and spending my entire career in small towns has made it easy to fit into the way of life that Eckville provides. Married with two children, there is nothing more important to me than family. I enjoy camping, golfing and travelling. I’ve spent my entire career in the credit union system spanning 28 years and 7 different communities. Serving on town council has taught me a lot about the inner workings of a municipality in Alberta. Although our community faces challenges, most communities do and I intend to do everything possible to make Eckville an even better place to live.

Thanks for taking the time to get know me better. I was born in Winnipeg, MB but did most of my growing up in Calgary, AB. It was there I attended and graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a Bachelor of Arts and Religion majoring in Music. I completed my studies and married the love of my life, Brenna (Buchenel), and moved to Eckville in 2004. Our son Ethan was born in 2007 and we are very excited about our next baby which is due to be born on my birthday, October 6.
I work full time as a Pastor of the Word of Life Church in town and also volunteer as the President of the Chamber of Commerce. I also have a deep love for music instruction and production and hope to sell songs to major artists in the future.
The main reason why I ran for Town Council is I firmly believe great things are in store for Eckville and that I can be instrumental in our future. If you share my passion for our town and have any ideas or items of discussion, I welcome your comments, and you can email me directly.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to get to know me and to many of you for voting for me as well. I appreciate your support and will continue to do my very best to serve our Town.

This is my first term as Town Councillor. I have lived in Eckville since 1984 and really enjoy the community and what is has to offer me and my family. I have been married to my wife, Janeil, for eight years, and we have two wonderful children, Kyle (6) and Paige (4). My family has operated a business in town for 20 years, and I look forward to seeing new business growth and development in Eckville. In my free time I like to golf, curl, and coach hockey.
