Business Licensing

If you are operating a business in the Town of Eckville, you are required under Bylaw 622/99 to hold a valid Town of Eckville Business License. The annual cost for in town business is $20; out-of-town doing business in Eckville is $100 annually.

Business Licenses are available at the Town Office.  If it is inconvenient for you to come to the office to purchase or renew your license, simply mail in your payment to the The Town of Eckville, P.O. Box 578, Eckville, AB, T0M 0X0 and we will be glad to mail your new license to you.

New BusinessIf you are setting up a new business, renewal, or transfer, you must complete a Business License Application and submit a signed copy to the Town Office.

Home Business Licenses:  If you are setting up a business operating from your home, notify the Town Office.  The type of business you will be operating may have an effect on your neighbourhood in terms of traffic volume, noise volume, on street parking, and land use.  That is why you require approval from the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) to operate your business.   Click here for more information on Home Business

What to do:
  1. Complete an Application for Development at the Town Office and pay a one time fee of $50.
  2. If requested, attend a meeting of the MPC to discuss your business and answer questions they may have.  Once the MPC decides on your application, there will be a 14-day waiting period for public input on your pending permit before your application is finalized.
  3. If approved, and once you receive your permit, you must purchase a Business License for a $20 fee.  This license is renewable annually while you are operating your home business.
Forms are also available at the Town office during office hours if you wish to drop by.
